6 Tips for New Bloggers/Creators

I started blogging in 2015, and it has been a  long journey through trials and errors, but one thing that motivated me to keep pushing was my passion to tell my story and help other females out there. I always try to educate myself on things that will help grow my blog and so far it has been a beautiful journey. I decided to share some tips that helped me when I started blogging and I hope you find one or two things that will help grow your blog.

Define Your Niche

Honestly, deciding on a niche as a new creative is one of the hardest yet most important steps in blogging. Especially when you have your creative juice flowing all over the place. Most people think everyone is their audience or targeting everyone means a larger audience. But the truth is, you have to narrow your audience down to if possible a particular person.
List out possible behaviors and characteristics of them and develop content, you think they will be interested in. People tend to show more interest in blogs that they feel a kind of connection with, blogs that speak directly to their experiences, focusing on a  particular niche will help you become an expert in that area and a go-to brand for that audience.

Set Clear Goals For Your Blog

Blogging is taking your audience on a beautiful journey and telling them a unique story through your eyes.  That sounds like fun, but to grow your blog,  you have to be International with your content. Every content you share on your blog should have a purpose.
Setting short term achievable goals for your blog would guide your blogging activities and provide direction and intent for your blog.  It also helps measure your growth especially,  if you have plans of monetizing it.

Create Valuable Content

Creating valuable content for your blog is really important to improve your blog traffic. When coming up with content for your blog, there are important questions to ask yourself like, “will this post be relevant in the next 5 years?” “Will my audience find this post useful?” If yes, then you are good to go.
It is also important to ensure that your captions clearly describe what the post is about. Because the caption is the first thing your audience will see to know if the post is worth their while.

Build Your Email List

Building your email list is something you should do from day one of your blog because having an email list creates a medium for you to promote your content directly to your subscribers. Another important reason to build an email list is that it helps build trust and connection between your blog and your audience.
When you send out newsletters to your subscribers either, love notes or monthly round-ups it makes them feel valued and part of your community which is important to keep your blog top of mind.

Promote Your Blog

Creating great content is often not enough to drive traffic to your blog, but taking intentional actions towards driving traffic will yield positive results. You can promote your blog by sharing your post across other platforms like Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, Linkedin, or through your email list. You can also drive traffic through paid promotion.
It is important to have the means to capture emails of your visitors during this promotion to build your email list. Facebook pixel is a good tool to use for this purpose. Though this could be a bit expensive especially when you are starting on a budget, it’s totally worth it if you do it the right way.

Be consistent

I know you just have probably heard this a thousand times, but honestly, if you have been able to carve a niche for your blog and develop expert knowledge within that niche,  the whole blogging experience will be fun and less draining.

I also have to point out that, being consistent doesn’t end at posting regularly, you also have to consistently deliver valuable content to your audience which will keep them coming back and eventually take your blog to the next level.
If you’re also interested in achieving a consistent look on your social pages or with photos, I created the Eko Presets to help you achieve that.
